Ellen White, in harmony with the Bible, teaches that the second beast of Revelation 13—identified as the United States—will form an image to the beast, which refers to the papacy. This image will enforce religious laws, uniting church and state in a way that mirrors the oppressive system of the papacy during the Dark Ages.
Revelation 13:1 (KJV):
"And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy."
Revelation 13:11 (KJV):
"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon."
The Great Disappointment & The Investigative Judgment
The Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844, was a pivotal moment in Christian history, particularly for the Seventh-day Adventist movement. It arose from the prophetic studies of William Miller, who, after examining Daniel 8:14 ("Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."), concluded that Jesus Christ would return on that date. When Christ did not appear, thousands of believers were left heartbroken, confused, and ridiculed. However, through deeper study of Scripture, a small group of sincere seekers discovered that the prophecy was not wrong, but the event was misunderstood.

The Book of Daniel is one of the most fascinating and profound prophetic books in the Bible. In times of crisis, when traditional ministry is hindered, those trained in health work will still be able to reach people.
Our greatest burden should be, not the raising of money, but the salvation of souls; and to this end we should do all in our power to teach students how to lead souls to a knowledge of the third angel's message. When we are successful in the work of soulsaving, those who are added to the faith will, in turn, use their ability in giving the truth to others. When we labour diligently for the salvation of our fellow men, God will prosper our every effort.-9T 85, 86.
We believe that the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy (Revelation 19:10) and that Ellen G. White was given this prophetic gift to help guide God’s people in these last days.
The three angels’ messages are to be combined, giving their threefold light to the world. In the Revelation, John says, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” This represents the giving of the last and threefold message of warning to the world. SDA Bible Commentary 7:985.
